History
Faith Mission Christian Fellowship Church was birthed from the Lord’s love for His people. On January 20, 2018, a group of women from Ventura County gathered for prayer and fellowship at the home of Rev. Gay and Rev. Willis Steele. Bible study began on January 30th. As the attendance grew after much prayer, The Lord led the Rev. Gay and Rev. Willis Steele to plant a church in Camarillo, CA and to begin Sunday worship without delay.
A place for worship was not easy to find, but The Lord had a plan. The first worship service was held on Sunday, February 25th at the Courtyard by Marriott, located at 4994 Verdugo Way in Camarillo. The second service was held at The Hampton Inn, located at 50 Daily Drive in Camarillo. Worship services alternated between the hotels for the first 2 months. In April, 2018 The Hampton Inn became the first church ‘home’ for the Faith Mission Christian Fellowship family.
In the first year Faith Mission CFC received its 501c3 non-for-profit status, established a Ministry Leadership Council, Deacons in Training, a Women’s and Men’s ministries, Ushers, a Choir, Youth Fellowship, and Pulpit and Hospitality ministry.
In December of 2018, Rev. Willis discovered that a furniture store going out of business. It appeared to be an unlikely space at 12,000 sq feet, but the Lord had a plan. Pastors Gay and Willis Steele prayed and were led of the Lord to inquire and learned that the owner was dividing the property into smaller units. Before the property was publicly listed, we submitted a letter of intent. As the Faith Mission CFC was ending a 21-day fast, in January of 2019, we learned that the landlord agreed to rent the space to us. To God be the Glory!
After many months of renovations, Faith Mission CFC held worship in our new church home at 1369 Del Norte Road in Camarillo, CA on November 24th, 2019, and took possession, February 2020, just in time for our 2nd Year Church Anniversary. What A Mighty God we serve!
